GARDEN CITY, N.Y., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Sm@rt Reseller, the newsweekly
from today's channel published by Ziff-Davis (NYSE: ZD), has learned that 3Com
Corp. plans to launch a new networking company in a bid to maintain its dominance
in the Ethernet market, offset competition from Intel Corp., and ride out the Asian
financial crisis. The new company, named Impacct, will begin operations in late 1998
or early 1999 and develop low-cost chips for 3Com's Ethernet switches, hubs and
adapter cards.
