Plug and Play the USB Way: Creative Introduces New Desktop Digital Color Video
Camera for $79 After Rebate

Video Blaster WebCam II Brings Creativity, Fun and Function to the Desktop

July 20, 1998 07:01 AM

MILPITAS, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Would you like your Web site to be the talk of the
Internet? Do you want your e-mail messages and multimedia presentations to have more life and
personality? If so, then liven them up with Creative Technology's CREAF Universal Serial Bus
(USB)-compatible Video Blaster(TM) WebCam II -- the newest addition to Creative's family of video
products. This fun, feature-rich and easy-to-use desktop digital color video camera has everything
Internet users need to capture, create and communicate with live full-color video and
high-resolution still images on the Internet -- all for the extraordinarily low price of US$79.99, after
US$20 mail-in rebate.

Already available with a parallel port version, the Video Blaster WebCam II product line has been
expanded to include a model with USB Support. Optimized for use with Microsoft's(R) latest
operating system, Windows(R) 98, users simply connect the Video Blaster WebCam II to the
PC's USB port and they're ready to give the world a healthy dose of creativity. There are no cards
to install and no external power supply is needed. And, like all USB peripherals, the Video Blaster
WebCam II is instantly recognized and initialized by the computer without forcing the user to
reboot.

"Video Blaster WebCam II is the perfect, hassle-free and affordable tool for enhancing Web sites
with rich, full-color video and still images, and for creating vivid multimedia postcards for friends
and relatives," said Hock Leow, vice president of Creative's Multimedia Division. "With USB plug
and play capability, Video Blaster WebCam II is an ideal peripheral for use with Windows 98."

The Video Blaster WebCam II also comes complete with a host of feature-rich software
applications, including a version of the award-winning Polaroid PhotoMAX specially developed for
Creative. With PhotoMAX, users can create professional-quality photo masterpieces in just a few
simple steps and have fun doing everything from retouching photos to creating video e-mail. The
PhotoFantasy feature will even let users combine their photo with a fantasy background from the
PhotoMAX gallery.

Other features of the Video Blaster WebCam II include the following: -- Video Blaster Control
Panel is a unique system tray utility that gives users immediate access to commonly used
functions such as single frame and motion video capture. In addition, users can easily control
setup functions such as brightness, contrast and more. -- Creative Video WebPhone is an
easy-to-use software-based Internet telephone that features live video and all the functionality of
today's advanced telephones. With Creative Video WebPhone, users can see and speak to
another person with an Internet address anywhere in the world for merely the price of a local
Internet connection. -- ISpy from WebNet is an easy-to-use utility that automatically grabs and
updates live pictures onto a Web page. Users simply point their camera, pick a time interval, and
ISpy does the rest. -- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 from Microsoft Corp. is the most technically
advanced and feature-rich browser on the market. -- A professional-style high-quality microphone
that lets Internet users verbally communicate with others by turning their PC with speakers into a
powerful videoconferencing station. -- A gallery of HTML templates and Web graphics that make it
easy to create a personal web site complete with live images in minutes, even if you don't know
anything about HTML programming.

The USB version of Video Blaster WebCam II will begin shipping in August on Creative's
award-winning Web site and through its extensive distribution and retail network. Creative also
offers a parallel port version of Video Blaster WebCam II that includes the same valuable features
and software bundle. Both products sell for $79.99 after $20 mail-in rebate, which is good through

The DOW closed at 8487. On 7/20/98, I claimed that large caps were overextended, and were due for a breather, possibly a correction. The DOW was in the 9200-9300 range then, and now is down 800-900, or approaching 10%. This would be a correction.
I continue to maintain that CUBE is subject to much larger forces (the overall markets), and can either be victim or beneficiary to those markets. Currently, CUBE is being victimized. HOWEVER, I am STILL long CUBE, and my hope is that once the dust settles, and investors grow tired of blindly throwing money into large caps, and start looking for undervalued gems (like CUBE), this could be a factor to finally launch CUBE. I hope that this is more than just fantasy. Hang in there!
