The press release for the Compaq PowerStorm Graphics PC gives no hint of a potential TDFX hookup but I looked into it a little deeper. The PowerStorm Graphics line is an old line from Digital for high end PC graphics using using Evans & Sutherland graphic based cards. I guess Compaq is now going to integrate the line under their name.

The article states that: <<The PowerStorm graphics line will bring unprecedented levels of 3D graphics performance to a range of Compaq workstation platforms, from highly affordable entry-level workstations to high performance Intel and Alpha-based workstations, clusters and render farms.>> Although Evans & sutherland is mentioned for the mid and high range ends of the line, their is no mention as to the low end <<highly affordable entry-level workstations>> in the release. Another part off the release has the standard disclosure:

<<Compaq Professional Workstations support a wide variety of high-performance 2D, combined 2D/3D, multimonitor and midrange 3D graphics options from a number of industry-leading vendors, including Matrox, ELSA, STB and Diamond Multimedia Systems.>>

It's my understanding that ELSA producs the high end cards using the Evans & Sutherland chips. More importantly Elsa has already announced that they will produce a Banshee based card. My guess is that Compaq may use the Banshee based card to fill <<highly affordable entry-level workstations>> description. Of course, this is all just speculation on my part and I've never even heard of this line prior to today. What do you guys think? Joe C.

P.S. Chip. I've ended my strike, I found I enjoy following this stock more that I hate taking paper losses.
