T.M: I sense your frustration with NN. There is no doubt that T.M was a visionary just as Levine was for Cabletron. However both these CEO's , NN to a lesser extent, failed to understand the threats around them.

In the case of NN, they should have anticipated that CSCO and LU the lead Gorillas would unrelentingly strive to expand their territory. The average Company is not concerned at Board level with the complexities of Networking. All that they need to know,is that their communications are looked by a brand name gorilla who guarantees them continuity and service at a reasonable cost.

NN's strategy was to form Alliances to protect its market share. An alliance is a wishy washy union which historically has never been of any long term benefit to either the Companies or their shareholders. It was for this reason that NT decided against alliances and opted to buy BAY Networks. NN is still glued to the vision of Alliances.

They may do much better if they can accept that they need a TELCO to protect them. A take over by LU would have been an excellent choice.
However that did not happen. NN is expecting to fight for its market share on its own steam.

I hope the Mgmt will understand that they need to reformulate their strategies to fight off the new Gorillas on the block. ATM technology may not be enough.
