I would like to offer a perspective from a card carrying immortalist. I have been investigating the idea of physical immortality for about seven years now, and have come under a lot of criticism for doing so. As I saw it, it seemed that the human race would eventually come to discover a way to escape the cycle of death, either through eastern spirituality or western science. I for one do not have the patience to sit on a mountain top for twenty years in order to transcend death, therefore I chose to follow everything I could in regards to scientific breakthroughs. The discovery and isolation of telomorase was a huge step, and in my estimation the most important discovery in history-period. (Nothing else is going to matter when you are dead!). About 2 weeks ago I was watching an excellent documentary on the Discovery Channel about aging and longevity. Many top biophysisists were interviewed, and it was their opinion that the public simply has no idea how close we are to truly breaking the "death code", and that we will all be able to make a visit to the doctor in a few years to get our "1,000 year shot". CYGS is by far the closest to producing a delivery system that will make this possible, and I have not found a single statement from any scientist anywhere that argues against this. CYGS is definitely a speculative play, I think we all understand that, and should invest accordingly. All I can say now is, the potential is so huge that it really is incomprehensible. I hope to see you all over the next thousand years or so...:)
