Thanks for the pointers, Frank. That thing about DRAMs and the number of transistors reminds how poorly stocks like Intel and Micron Tech have done over the last 18 months. Seems like the trick is to be in the right companies until the industry turns into the land of the Red Queen, where you have to run as fast as you can just to stay in place.

Hard to believe there's actually a whole Gilder thread, and that he's even on it. Personally, I've never been too fond of his work and think it undeserving of the attention it gets. Not that I think it's wrong, it's just that by the time the future comes nobody remembers the predictions of 5 or 10 years earlier. Oh well. So I guess I can drop him a line and see if he has a back-of-the-envelope calculation behind that 100 billion times increase in bandwidth figure. BTW, a mere 50% annual increase still multiplies out to 25,000 times over 25 years.

Now back to your regularly scheduled TLAB celebrations. Hot enough for everyone?
