Jim - it would be naive to think VLSI will NOT be taken over by the end of the year.

So, call me naive. First, MOT is not a likely takeover candidate for the simple reason that VLSI's number one customer would disappear. As for VLSI not being able to turn their IP into reality, I disagree. They were very successful when they moved out of the computer support chips area, and the only reason that they have done poorly so far this year is customer inventory corrections and SEA. They have not lost market share outside of their computing area. Given this info, were I VLSI management I would not want to sell, and as a shareholder I certainly don't want them to sell, especially to someone like LU with a massively overpriced stock.
