Now Mizz Penny, not all of us farmin' folks are stupid. There was a book published about a Sergeant Gill in the Mexican War that said he financed his troops that stole two chickens and Santa Anna's wooden leg. I wrote the authors and told them I had the land grants signed by Zachery Taylor and James T. Polk that went thru Sergeant Gill to my great grandpappy to finance that band of thieves. They had contended he was paid after the war. They wanted me to send the grants to Arizona, a land of outlaws, for them to study. They wouldn't come to Illinois to see them and I never sent them.

Helen Update
The Thumper Queen is huge. Size 3 shoes and eighteen pounds easy. She stood nosehigh to a two-year-old at a party we attended this Saturday.
Anyway- just today (I'm all excited after talking to Spouse after I called to tell her that I'll be late for dinner) she learned to roll anywhere she wanted. She's conquered the floor of her room. She made it to the closet door - bonked her head - looked at Spousemama and sorta half-cried. Spouse laughed out loud, and Helen decided to grin instead. Life is good.
She ate a whole eight ounces of rice cereal this evening.
