A Corel spokeswoman said the company is currently prepping an update to WordPerfect for Windows and discussing whether to begin work on the next Mac version.

Is this a joke? Does anybody out there know of any software company in any condition who isn't prepping an update? Is that what those geniuses came up with to put out the fire they started by bungling the entire process of closing down the WP facility? They are prepping an update so everything must be fine? Look ma! We're prepping an update! Hold on, it gets worse: discussing whether to begin work on the next Mac version. Excuse me? I am beginning to think the same comedian who wrote that piece about the Netwinder having potentially found possible homes is working full time for the Corel PR machine, such as it is.

Test: next time your boss asks you what you're doing tell her you are discussing whether to begin work and see if she darts back to her office to dictate a press release.
