Perhaps you'll have your own personal household server, an appliance tucked away next to the furnace and hot water heater, with I/O stations scattered around the house. Of course, your personal server might also be networked to the outside world, and one of its main functions might be to cache information locally (as well as perhaps to be the primary/sole location at which sensitive information is stored in order to eliminate your security concerns, although I suspect your doctor, bank, attorney, etc. already store a fair amount of sensitive information about you so that there's a precedent for such off-site storage). No "PC's" in sight, nor any copies of Windoze.

JMHO.

YOU keep YOUR personal data on a remote server, where it is exposed to plundering and misuse.

Jon... lets see.. you use SI.. your messages are stored on "their" server... i assume you have more than on brokerage account.. and you access this info via then net..so...do you let "this" info be stored somewhere else?

I'm not talking tomorrow.. just in the future..it is happening and when we have actual 1.5 Mb/sec speeds.. (which some say is not a noticeable difference to us humans..from 10Mb/sec). I don't know when this will happen..3, 5, 8 yrs???

Are you saying mom and pop are more capable of maintaining their data safe and secure than a large corp. with lots of resources.?? How well is all of "your" data backed up right now?? I think at some point in the future our ISP will do this for us. Just part of our monthly fees. Hey what about your webpages.. 5megs here, 5 megs there.. all on a computer which is not yours...

Who knows for sure..not I ..just my gut feeling.

Have a good eve..

Roger
