This is not an accurate statement

"The market is a zero-sum game. For every winner, there's a loser. The money you make today came out of someone else's pocket. Everyone cannot be a winner. Don't delude yourselves into thinking otherwise."

The futures market is a zero sum game (actually "less" than a zero sum game when commissions are deducted) because with every long position, there is an equal short position.

The stock market, on the other hand, is not a zero sum game. There is not an even short position with every long position. I could be purchasing stock today at $2.50 per share from someone else who is selling at $2.50 who bought it at $1.00 and they could have bought it at $1.00 from someone who bought it at .50 cents...etc.

I know we are buying from MM's.....but to get the stock to sell to us, someone had to sell it to them....except for naked shorting, which is done a lot.
