<<Buddha is dead, but Jesus Christ is alive and reigning from heaven. Modern Buddhism cannot wash away your sins, but Jesus Christ can.>> Emile, modern Buddhism is very much alive. It is gaining adherents, and one of things about it that is dynamic is that it is inclusive rather than exclusive. Many Jews also become Buddhists, for example. Oh, come to think of it, could this be part of your problem with Buddhism? During the Vietnamese war Buddhist monks set themselves on fire, sacrificing themselves to protest the pain and violence of war. That seemed very much alive to me. I don't remember very many Christian ministers doing that. So which religion is really more alive? Isn't a large part of being alive participating in what is happening in the world, trying always to be positive in your result? <<Modern Buddhism is based upon myths and fables.>> Christianity is definitely based on myths and fables, Emile. There is nothing really wrong with myths and fables--allegories can be important teaching tools. The sadness is when one becomes fixated on a certain version of the story, and comes to hate anyone who believes a different one. Sound familiar? Modern Buddhism seems to be based on self-awareness, love and peace. The high value of all life is an important concept in Buddhism. This is much more than myths and fables. <<You can believe in Buddhism all your life and you will die in your sins and never be reconciled to God.>> You have absolutely no idea whether your belief about this is true, Emile. No one does. You HOPE that when you die you will be forgiven and live in the clouds with the harp music, but it is just as likely that you simply will be dead, nonexistent, poof, nada. Imagine your surprise if you come back as a tiny shrimp, or a rat or a cow or a black woman!!!
