Yes Kevin we all have seen the adds, but those are Bytemarks, not SPECmarks. They are not considered industry standard benchmarks.

Intel has nothing to do with SPECmarks. They are controlled by an independent organization. DEC uses them, SPARC uses them, HP uses them, even IBM uses them and they (IBM) now fall short of Intel processors (as do SPARC and HP also). Only when Apple runs a new add campaign do they roll out non standard benchmarks to impress people like you.
