>>A good guy may not be good for running a big company...<<

Actually, what I meant by a "good guy" was not really a "nice
guy", but somebody who is well respected in the business.
For example, I've heard John Chambers talk pretty highly
of him.

Now, if you mean that he's "mild mannered" and doesn't
portray a "strong personality", that's another story.

He was good enough to get them to a $10billion market cap.
But to be a $50billion or higher market cap, maybe one
needs have a "stronger image"....I don't know...

Eric got this company to the #2 position in a very high growth industry. He was ahead of the curve almost every time. You must not have studied the history behind this company or Eric. I would like to know who you think could drive the #2 networking company and compete with the likes of C$CO, Lucent, Intel, etc. Eric has done a very good job with the exception of the USRX integration and you can't totally blame him since the entire industry was crushed. Time will tell and we will see in next 6 -12 months if Eric can run this company to the next level. I have stock in him that he can.

Matt

get rid of eric b? you must be crazy. who would you replace eric with?

1. coms is number 2 (we all want #1 - but give eric a chance)

2. split of ceo/coo position - savvy move on eric b's part

3. usrx was a major blunder - eric b's fault - yes. he has since taken tough measures to correct the problems.

4. coms continues to have an excellent product line and introducing new products.

5. alliances eric has created - part of his personality causes these
