Hi Mike,

This is old news but I enjoy posting it every once in awhile:
techweb.com

IMO, IBM is the only company with deep enough pockets and the kind of R&D budget to make use of S3. AMD, NSM and INTC already have graphics acquisitions or partners. Although I don't think it will ever happen, S3 + IBM would give IBM just about the only technology they don't have to build their PCs completely in house. It amazes me the technology IBM has in their possession without being considered an 800 pound gorilla. Nobody considers them a drive maker but they hold the world record for storage space. Nobody considers them a networking company but their software runs circles around Net Ware and NT. I suppose some folks have heard they sell main frames, and most folks know they have computers. I'd be tickled to death to sit back and watch IBMs R&D folks tinker with S3s patent hoard. I think even INTC would have cause to be VERY afraid.

It takes a little bit of research to place a value on SIII, but if they closed their doors tomorrow and liquidated all their assets, it would be worth about 9 bucks a share. I really can't think of any good reason SIII shouldn't be trading in a $15-$25 price range. I probably should have jumped all over it at $4.91 yesterday but if it forms a true double bottom it might touch $4.50 for a few minutes. We'll see.

Regards,

Don
