The "industry" as a whole will not transition to GMR until 1999, but IBM is shipping GMR today. It's a silly statement to expect they will ship GMR in "volume" at the same time as IBM. IBM is shipping products, RDRT is still shipping eval samples...

I honestly don't know how many GMR DDs IBM is shipping - they are actually a small player in this sector really, that's why they've established the WDC relationship to pick up the volumes.
(That's actually the bigger picture that you seemed to have missed due to your overly bullish view. RDRT has lost their largest customer.)

KMAG did indicate that they are shipping GMR media to IBM and that they were the first in the industry to do so. My point in this exchange Marty is that the company will spin the news to their benefit; it's not RDRT specific, it's IR crap. I wouldn't base ANY of my investment decisions on quick phone conversations I've had at RDRT. You need a broader, less subjective view of the industry than that.
