Shares issued 173,670,862 Jul 20 close $32.95 Tue 21 Jul 98 News Release Mr. John Lawlor reports Telecom Eireann (Ireland) has chosen a broadband multiservice ATM solution based on the Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress platform to consolidate and facilitate high bandwidth network services. The contract was awarded after it was put to international tender under the EU journal process. As part of the initial rollout, Siemens will install six MainStreetXpress 36170 Multiservices Switches in Dublin. The network is expected to reach a total of 25 nodes by the end of the year. This new broadband ATM network will enable Telecom Eireann to provide data and voice solutions on a single platform for customers such as large international companies. To ensure that Telecom Eireann's business needs are met, Siemens, Newbridge and Telecom Eireann are co-operating in a formal relationship managed by a joint executive team.
