Guest host on CNBC discussed the strong possibility of Vivus being bought out. My gut feeling is that many brokerages will buy as many shares as possible on weakness and hold during short covering rallies. Eventually the shares may run dry and it will be the shorts holding the bag with no shares left to buy back except at a very high price.

Betty: <Personally, I think they screwed up the refill number>
I think you are right. In the past, the percent drop in Refills has been smaller than the drop in New. This large drop in Refills look like an error to me also.

Betty,

Yes, I checked back the refill numbers after. Leaving aside the run up in the first couple of months of muse, there were only two slightly greater % increases over the previous week in muse history - both last year. When I averaged these % changes over muse history, all three (this weeks and the two others) were significantly different statistically from the average. So it appears that some special factor is needed to explain the drop, it is not a 'random' fluctuation - if it is not a holiday or 'no sex' week it could be an error.

I notice that viagra was also down 15% but do not have the data.
