Emile,
Because you wrote so openly, I'll try to answer your questions honestly; it's only negativism and anger and name-calling that I won't subject myself to.

It seemed to me that since you believe so absolutely in the inerrant word of God, you would consider Paul's words to the Corinthians more readily than any words a human could use. They are beautiful words with great wisdom in them, whether you believe them to be the perfect word of God or not.

I've never, ever "ridiculed" (those are the types of words you really need to avoid in trying to talk to people)the Bible's accuracy but I do question it. I think that's where we're having problems communicating. You believe it's perfect, and that it is the ONLY true communication from God and thus are comfortable using it as the ultimate factual authority; I'm not. I have great respect for ALL religious texts. (with the exception possibly of Joseph Smith's Book of Mormon...that I found pretty weird) It seems possible to me that God may have different ways of revealing himself. I didn't mean to be protecting my position as a Christian-mainly because, by your definition, I'm probably not one. (Though, again using your definition, I have been one in the past, and please refrain from throwing the Catch 22 at me). It's too easy to confuse delusion, paranoia, and ego gratification with with religion. Religion, in and of itself, strikes me as a contradiction.

Again, do you really believe that "sharing", "proclaiming", "defending" on SI serves any purpose other than to polarize, antagonize, and separate people? What I have seen take place here is the opposite of love and peace and joy. I don't think much positive has been accomplished in the name of religion here. The overtones of the Inquisition and Burn the Heretics are far too prevalent, the attitude too adversarial.

If there is a God, an omnipotent Spirit, It is very, very big and I believe that It understands, even welcomes, the sincere searching of the human spirit and mind for truth, wherever it leads.

>First, if you can trust the Word of God to quote it as an accurate source of rebuke for me , why do
you consider it an inadequate source of accuracy for people's salvation. <

That one is easy to answer. As adults, we should be allowed to quote a written work without being coerced to endorse it. I'm constantly quoting Sagan, even if he and I don't see eye to eye on a number of issues.
You have promoted yourself as the believer. When you are called to account by penni pointing out a New Testament passage, it is you who are held to the higher standard of care. Not she or anyone here who hasn't proclaimed his or her submission to the word of Christ.
To equate the privilege of quoting a text with the requirement to pledge fealty to its precepts is a form of Death. It is indistinguishable from Hebrew Law, a standard so stringent it predisposes its subjects to failure. You have impressed me as merciless in this regard - and I want to tell you without rancor that the impression you leave with me is an aversion or mistrust to/of "Christian doctrine".
