>Not too shabby a return on investment, Mr. Brinker.<

At this particular point in time, I can't help but wish Mr. Brinker would have advised me to buy Lucent rather than UTEK.

What does one say to friends or people that pay you for advice after you keep saying: "Yahoo (or KO or DIS or CISCO or MSFT or LU) is too expensive NOW for my taste so I prefer to buy UTEK ( or AMAT or HWP or IBM or FDX or hundreds of other "value" plays)"???

Over and over we get this as they beat you up for not turning them on to the hot tulip stocks. WE are supposed to be good investors so we should have known about these tulip stocks and told them when to get in and when to get out. Yeah, right! I wonder what Warren Buffett says? Does anyone think Buffett has put large amounts of NEW money into MSFT, KO, DIS, LU, Yahoo, OnSale, etc. at these high valuations?

I think I am gaining a true understanding of what Bob Brinker means when he says most are "clueless" and will really suffer when the great bear raises its ugly head.

I've actually started recommending they read this book from Bob's reading list "Against the Gods : The Remarkable Story of Risk"

Mr Rice, does LU at these levels look a bit like a tulip to you?

regards
Kirk out

Bob- In re: "At this particular point in time, I can't help but wish
Mr. Brinker would have advised me to buy Lucent rather than
UTEK."

My own understanding, based on rather regular listening to MoneyTalk,
is that Brinker has, in past time, taken a decidedly dim view of AT&T
as an investment. Meanwhile, Brinker has, for a very long while, been
nothing but bullish on the airwaves with respect to the AT&T spin-off,
Lucent Technologies.

i think bob would be the first to admit that his timing was bad in relation to his recommendation for utek. however, to think that somebody could always make recommendations that double in a year is foolish. it would have been impossible to predict the asian crisis and the potential impact it would have on this sector. i'm happy with my position in UTEK and look to add other semi-equip stocks to my portfolio as conditions appear to improve. i would rather get in or out of a stock early then to late.

bought uniphase on his recommendation last spring and doubled my money in 6 months...obviously i was very pleased but did not expect that type of performance in every recommendation he made.

the patient investor, and i stress investor, will always be rewarded in the long run with a diversivied portfolio.

good investing to all
