Also, intranets are expensive to set up and companies will pay to use the an existing intranet service. The internet is free to all and the internet companies get their revenue from advertisers.

Hey guys thanks very much for answering that question for me, I was busting my brains comparing the two. I pretty much understood the Internet service, its the Intranet that was puzzling me.

"Intranet is network within a company, so it's not publicly accessed and therefore used for secured communication."

This service sounds a lot to me like the " Frame relay service" offered by telecom. companies. Frame relay is also like a web network within a particular company, used for accessing all kinds of company information. Is that along the same roads???
