Concentric Extends High Speed DSL To Southern California

July 22, 1998

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A., Newsbytes via
NewsEdge Corporation : Concentric Network Corp.
[NASDAQ:CNCX] has announced it isnow offering DSL
(digital subscriber line) services in the greater Los
Angeles metro area.

The rollout in LA follows on from the launch of the
ConcentricDSL service in the San Francisco Bay area in
November of last year, Newsbytes notes. The company
says it is now in the process of expanding its DSL
coverage to most of Southern California, allowing small
to medium-sized businesses and "power " home users to
have high speed access to the Internet.

ConcentricDSL service packages are available in speeds
ranging from 144 kilobits per second (Kbps) to 1.5
megabits per second (Mbps) at prices starting as low as
$149 a month, including all circuit and Internet charges.

According to company officials, Concentric has
interconnection agreements with NorthPoint
Communications, a data competitive local exchange
carrier (CLEC) based in San Francisco, and other circuit
providers, allowing the firm to offer Internet and intranet
access using DSL local loops throughout greater Los
Angeles.

Concentric says it also offers a single monthly price, so
the customer's monthly cost will be the same regardless
of which local exchange carrier (LEC) is used to supply
the DSL circuit. To simplify billing even further, in most
cases Concentric will provide the customer with a single
monthly bill for both the DSL circuit and the Internet
access charge.

Michael Malaga, NorthPoint's president, said that the
company is rapidly expanding its footprint to deliver
DSL technology to growing businesses nationwide.

"After a successful rollout in Northern California,
NorthPoint and Concentric are teaming up again to serve
the Los Angeles marketplace with high quality, cost
effective service offerings."
