AT THE AIDS CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON yesterday among CDC officials, Activists and Clinton Administrators, Activists called for: 1) CDC to launch a new campaign to persuade more people at risk to get tested and for 2) "DOCTORS, CLINICS AND HOSPITALS TO BEGIN USING A NEW 10-MINUTE HIV TEST IMMEDIATELY." At least 40,000 Americans each year are still catching the virus, half of whom the government estimates are under age 25. They add $6.2 billion in lifetime treatment costs to the nation's healthcare bill, according to the CDC.
