Paul:

If the other non-tech board members know whats good for them (appreciation of NOVL stock) I would suspect that they have taken the time to understand better the business that Novell wants to capture (in other words, Schmidt has done this task already). So far the board has approved the share buy back, and that tells me they believe and trust the direction and vision of Schmidt in leading Novell. Otherwise, don't you think that Elaine Bond and the others unfamiliar with the internet would let Schmidt and Hundt guide the direction of the business? I would think so. However, it would be nice to replace 2 more seats with someone from the likes of Netscape, AOL, Yahoo or other related companies.

Regards,

QuadK

The latest sales by our two favorite NOVL insiders.

Still no one taking the breathtaking step of buying NOVL shares in the open market. (Too bad they do not have the same confidence in Novell's future that most of this board has)

Glenn Ricart sold 2465 shares 6-9-98 at $12. Still holds 12,235 shares.

David Bradford sold 1500 shares 6-9-98 at $12 5/16. Still holds 18,553 shares.

As to a question posed previously by a poster as to whether or not Lou Gerstner bought IBM shares in the open market when he took over the reigns at that company.

The answer is yes. Millions of dollars worth. If Joe Antol were still posting I'm sure he could elaborate on the details.

Actually, as I've stated many times it is a show of faith by new CEO's, directors, etc. to buy shares in the company when they come in.

Even token 1000 share purchases.

The good ones do what Gerstner did and buy more than a "token" amount. They know what it means to Wall Street and the faithful employees and shareholders.

I still remain perplexed that a smart guy like Schmidt has not done the same.
