CA beats street by penny but cautious forward statements Asia Y2 BLAH BLAH BLAH same ole same ole... Computer Associates (CA) 57 1/2 -3 1/2: software products developer reports Q1 net of $0.34 a share, a penny above the First Call mean, vs yr-ago net of $0.28. However, company says concerned about the impact Asia will have on near-term results. Says expects revenues/earnings growth to slow over next several qtrs. Also blames "Year 2000" delays for slowdown in growth.... Brightpoint Inc. (CELL) 16 7/8 +3/16: distributor of wireless handsets and related accessories records a Q2 net of $0.17 a share, in line with the First Call consensus, vs year-ago profit of $0.10 a share; sales rose 50% to $330 mln.....
