Poor old Mr Greenspan has been marching up to the hill every few weeks to tell Congress all about the story of this economy. He was brought up and went to school and had all his experience at a time when the main driving forces of this economy weren't even in the science fiction books.

But he is the Chairman and he's just got married to a society figure and they are on 'everyone who is everyones' guest list and eventually all this stardom has to have an effect on a mans mind. But still he goes on marching up to the hill and all the politicians huddle around to hear the word from the Oracle.

But I bet he hasn't the faintest idea why this economy is doing as well as it is and that means that he doesn't know what to do for the best. Every sinue in his ancient bones screams to him that this can't last and that he ought to put up interest rates but he knows if he does that all hell will break lose in Asia and worse still Russia.

And so he urges caution always caution about inflation. Yet there is absoutely no sign of inflation and there hasn't been new for years. This is very frustrating for the old boy because after a few more warnings about exhuberance into markets like we have been priviliged to witness for the last few years people will start to think that he's past it.

Shame because he sort of grows on you but I can't blame him for a market tumble because that is all he knows what to warn. I blame myself for not selling the night before he goes marching up the Hill. But next time I won't sit through it. The night before I'll antiicpate him because he always sings the same old song.

Regards,

L
