Larry - Re: "What do you think the profitability of StrongARM will be given that Intel must (?) pay a licensing fee to ARM?"

StronARM won't ever be a cash cow like Intel's x86 line. Not only will they have to pay a licensing fee (I'll bet they have the LOWEST FEES of ALL ARM licenses) but the embedded CPU market sells products in the sub $35 range, often for around less than $15 (and around $1,00 for the really cheap stuff).

However, the StrongARM die size is small - and will get smaller as Intel transitions it from 0.35 to 0.25 micron. So, it will be profitable.

Down the road, I'm sure Intel will attempt to add functionality to the StrongARM products and create their own unique variants, and hopefully sell these for higher margins.
