What is amazing to me about this whole thing is it appears that Geo. Pickett, V was unaware of his family history. Even though I'm a Northerner by birth and upbringing, I know that folks from below the Mason-Dixon Line are for the most part almost weepy when it comes to the history and nostalgia of the Confederacy and the gallantry of the wonderful Generals and other soldiers who fought so hard in the Civil War. How can a direct descendent and namesake of the General who led the most famous charge of the entire war not be aware of his family heritage?

Yes, the appraiser guy is a snake and a scoundrel. But Mr. Pickett, V, I must say, didn't deserve to have the family treasures in the first place.

Don't you think at some point in his 40+ years someone asked Mr. Pickett, V if he was related to Gen. Geo. Pickett?
