With 5/32 rise on 187,300 shares today in hopes of a good earnings report I think the market will sell off on higher than average volume. Inprise will not be able to recover for quite awhile from this. Hanging in there will kill ya.

Alex, I'm glad you have returned to this thread. I always find your analysis very thoughtful and USEFUL.

I don't see the buyback as significant, since they are just covering dilutive shares. However, I do think it is significant they they "signaled" that they would purchase at a cost of up to $10 per share. Is this indicative of perceived value?

On why the 8Q turnaround is now a 10Q turnaround... Asia..
They are going to work on Europe and US for the next 2 quarters and then Asia for the 2 quarters of FY99.

No loss in sales people from Visigenic since the merger..

BORCON will be renamed ICON.

Inprise owns about 10% of Starfish software, no idea what kind of $$ will result from that deal.

Multiple 6-figure deals to close this month.

Licensing agreements on new technology starting to hit the balance sheet and will continue to increase.

Desk-top was 27% this quarter (Q298) 46% on same quarter last year. Developers are doing more client server development...their desktop customers are moving along with the company.

Cash burn came from new systems infrastructure world-wide among other things.

Receivables increased about $4 million.

Buyback will start sometime this quarter, they said they feel the price is right for them to start buying..

Competing well in the enterprise market, taking business mostly from Iona but also some from BEA.

Increasing the services people, they are hard to find but they are finding them..
