Back to the present ....

Saw a Compaq Presario ad on Model 1640 Notebook on CNN. It actually showed the microprocessor AMD K6 266MHz enhanced processor. And only $2499.

Being older than most on this thread, I recall Senator Jackson from Washington State referring to the "obscene profits" of the oil industry in the 1970's.

Compaq is about to outdo Texaco, Exxon, et al if they can sell this
"demand constrained" chip in a low-end platform at this price. Hey,
maybe it isn't demand constrained! Eckhard may take all he can get if
enough yuppies go for "a good deal" when they see one.
