I have been thinking more and more about the marketing side of the meter and consumer perception.

If we're a meter and metering is our business (or at least one of our businesses - encryption being another), we should be coming up with a term for what is being metered. For example, your electric meter measures Kilowatts, your Speedometer measures Miles Per Hour, etc...What does our WaveMeter measure?

It would be extremely cool if we came up with a meaningful word or acronym for what the WaveMeter measures?

Some possible ideas off the top of my head:
1) Wavelets (might be tough to trademark)
2) IWaves or EWaves
3) Milliwaves
4) EBytes or DigiBytes
5) EBits or DigiBits
6) Ripples

What does this do for Wave? For starters:

a) brands the metering device and gives a trademarked name
that will associate Wave with e-commerce.
b) disassociates monetary value with the metered content: in a consumer's mind, it would cost 3 Wavelets per hour to play Quake, not 30 cents.
c) allows flexible and preferred pricing schemes: Company X, a content provider, could offer different pricing schemes for different consumers. Those who own other Company X products may be able to play Quake for 2 Wavelets per hour instead of 3.
d) allows for easy international currency conversion: 1 Milliwave = .10 US; while 1 Milliwave = 3 pence UK.

Who knows? Some of this stuff already be in the chip and may be "turned off" for now. Did anyone ever find out what features have been turned off in the chip?
