BK,
One point not discussed was that AMD wanted to use IBM's Copper
technology in the manufacturing of the K6 below 0.25uM. They recently
decided to go with AMAT's copper process/equipment. Sounds like they
must be having good success with their own "in-house" copper process
and are keeping the profits rather than spending them for "foundry"
fees. Hmmm, sounds like AMD may finally turn the corner and become profitable in the not to distant future.

Re: "Saying "we just don't need the capacity" is a euphemism for "we're not shelling out big bucks to big blue."

It is also plainspeak for, "WE JUST DON'T NEED THE CAPACITY" and yes, I had read the entire article.
