Brian,

We did have good volume today, nearly 10M shares. Someone is accumulating. Why?

I can't answer the "why" part except to venture a guess that with so much money floating around, there is a need to buy something, anything.

As for the accumulating part, that is easy. Just wait a few days and see who upgrades the stock.

Bk and Vartan,

I suspect we will see if a short squeeze is on in AMAT by Friday.
As the price goes up we should see the number of shorts decrease
on fear of a price run or potential short margin call. I say that
this is what will happen since earnings announcement is only about
3 weeks away. Consider this, if AMAT exceeds the newly lowered
earnings estimates then it will likely go up, also if layoffs are
announced it will likely go up. Shorts don't want to have that kind
of unnecessary exposure or uncertainty, IMHO. I wouldn't.

Just my opinion,
BB
