Looks like the rumour mongers are starting on NN too....

Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN)

NEWBRIDGE NETWORKS CORP's stock is up on "takeover rumors,"
analysts said, but at least one analyst believes a deal is unlikely in the near
term. James Kedersha, an analyst at Cowen & Co. in Boston, downplayed
the takeover rumors, figuring that Alan Lutz, Newbridge's recently appointed
president and chief operating officer, wants to fix the networking company's
problems himself. No one was immediately available at Newbridge for
comment. Newbridge, a manufacturer of high-speed asynchronous transfer
mode, or ATM, technology, hired Lutz in June after reporting a string of
disappointing quarterly earnings results. (BusinessWire)

Glenn --

Here's what I dug up on Global One. I'm not sure what to make of it, but at least NN's done business with them and is listed in their roster of companies on their home page. Since Nortel was awarded a contract earlier this year, it might be helpful if we could find out what type of equipment is being let at this time.

Global One lets you choose from leading telephone and transmission equipment vendors worldwide, including: Nortel, Alcatel, and Siemens. We collaborate with Alcatel, Cisco, Ascend, and Hypercom, to provide world class data networking solutions. We team with service processor experts from Tandem Computers, Sun Microsystems, and others to design and implement the optimum solution for you. Additionally, we work closely with companies like Network Equipment Technologies (N.E.T.) and Newbridge Networks, Inc. to meet your transmission needs. Global One continually researches new technologies and products, so we can utilize any additional vendors or technology required to keep your private network on the cutting edge.
