Positive Survey results are confirmed at Harp Lake 2

Gallery Resources Limited reports that ground geophysical surveys being carried out on its Harp Lake 2 property are still in progress. These surveys scheduled for completion earlier this month are now expected to be completed by the middle of next week. The detailed survey consisting of HLEM (max-min) and VLF-EM (very low frequency) electrical surveys as well as a magnetic survey commenced on July 8th.

The primary focus of the 1998 ground surveys is to confirm the results of the 1997 survey which outlined a highly conductive HLEM anomaly. Initial diamond drilling carried out last fall failed to explain the source of the high conductivity. As a result the company decided to carry our further surveying to ensure better definition of drill targets. (ref. Press release dated June 24, 1998).

The first phase of surveying was completed under the supervision of Mr. Mort Verbiski on July 11th and the results have confirmed the max-min anomaly. Both Mr. Verbiski and project geologist, Mr. Victor French are of the opinion that the anomaly has been confirmed and is larger than originally outlined. Processing of the data shows strong electrical responses covering a strike length of at least 300 meters over a broad zone up to 175 meters in width. The conductivity is evident on all 6 lines surveyed to date and is still open in both directions along the strike length. This zone also contains well defined coincident VLF-EM and magnetic responses which were not detected during last years survey.

With these very encouraging results the Company has recommenced the ground geophysics survey which includes an additional 30 kilometers of grid lines. The more detailed survey will determine the full strike extent of the anomalous zone and will also test for presence of other conductors. It is also necessary to establish a section on the grid to provide better coupling of the electrical survey to the conductive source. This new section of the grid will cross cut the anomaly at 90 degrees and therefore should give a much sharper and precise definition of drill targets.

Other significant information obtained from the survey to date shows that the HLEM conductor is flanking the gossan zone outlined on surface. Mr. French states that the gossan zone which contains up to 1% disseminated sulphides is not producing a HLEM response. Therefore the strong responses being obtained away from the gossan zone suggest the potential for much higher concentrations of sulphide mineralization. He also reports that a geology crew presently on site has identified troctolite rocks on the survey grid and in the general area of the anomaly. These rocks were not previously recognized and are considered significant because of their occurrence with the Voisey's Bay Deposits.

Mr. French expects that he will have a full report on the geophysical surveys by early August and anticipates drilling will commence by August 15, 1998. Mr. Bruce Costerd, President of Gallery Resources, advises that he is pleased with these new developments and that timely delivery of the survey results will assist in directing a more detailed drilling program. He notes that the 1997 diamond drilling program at Harp Lake did not commence until mid November and therefore the project is well ahead of last years drilling schedule.
