<< The stock traded down to 26 on the news, and is now 32.>>

I call it a dead cat bounce.

<<The semi's are ignoring bad news, just like they ignored good news in the Fall of 1995. >>

Over capacity problems aren't going to resolve themselves as soon as you seem to think. Micron Tech also looked to have bottomed many times before it actually hit bottom. I think there is at least another six months before these are buys.

<Texas Instruments earnings dissapoint by 2 cents this morning, project soft third quarter, stock closes up 2 points... biz.yahoo.com
Look at where AMAT is since it's dire prognosis last week. The stock traded down to 26 on the news, and is now 32. The semi's are ignoring bad news, just like they ignored good news in the Fall of 1995. >

Or... earnings don't count. Look at the earnings of Yahoo and compare it to the stock price. You have to break that habit.

It appears as if you have gotten a little popular here on SI:-)

Here's some more interesting reading from the mind of Reg (TM). This time I tried to offer the tools to the individual investor to sort this earnings stuff out on thier own. It may not be simple, but it is definitely worthwhile -
