Re: "Yesterday I was at Circuit City"

I didn't know they had circuit city in the midwest. Do they have Fry's too?

Presario "only" $2499 .....

I don't doubt your observations in the least. I am only stating
that Compaq (#1 PC producer) is willing to actually advertise the AMD chip in their product. I never have, and probably never will, buy a product from Compaq. But the message is strong, none the less.

Intel's speedup of the Mendocino, and today's downgrade of AMD by Prudential Securities must have us quivering in our boots --- not.

Regards -- JG

BTW, who is silly enough to buy the low end AMD model from Compaq?
Probably some one who is silly enough to buy a deCeleron, much less a Mendocino -- this is what AMD must worry about -- it is a real threat.
Not a logical threat, but a real threat. Michael Dell has made his point with Intel, now only time will tell. Dell Computer needs to be deflated, even more than M$ or INTC. Dell is an accident waiting to happen ... and it probably will.
