<< yeah, whatever you say ;-) >>

Brilliant response!

What do think about Ligand's "off-label" corporate plan? I think that it is brilliant.

They are taking drugs like Targretin and Panretin, which have many different disease applications, and trying to get FDA approval for small "fast track" markets!

Once approved, the revenue will fund larger clinical trials for diseases of larger populations. But, the new trials won't have to include Phase I testing, and will probably go thru Phase II/III testing. And, if results come out of the trials, the medicines can be made available "off-label" due to the new FDA rules.

It shows that Ligand really has it's "clinical" business plan together. Now, all it's going to take is good execution!

"Thoughtful planning and careful risk management and execution by the Ligand team have accelerated Ligand toward commercialization and achievement of our goals to have the first Ligand product on the market in 1998 and to achieve profitability in the 1999 timeframe"

"With four products in pivotal trials we believe Ligand's probability of achieving commercially successful medicines in the near future is good."

That's David E. Robinson's comments in the 1997 annual report.

It's now "five" products, two of which are before the FDA.

There's a lot riding on Panretin and Targretin. They must be successful in order for LGND to be a worthwhile investment. So far, both drugs have shown significant efficacy in clinical trials.

I'm sure you will join with us as we do the GO LGND cheer!
