I disagree. Volume is a great indicator...but there are too many issues in the sector. Some are considered damaged goods. I would look for select issues to start trading stronger and the sentiment to slowly spread to other issues. If I knew which companies would move first, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this...<g>

Excessive volume to me would be a danger sign. I would rather see support start to enter the sector slowly and build a foundation. Any strong moves up, I think would be met with profit taking just as fast.

If the sector starts to solidify then your fund managers will start to nibble. I sincerely doubt they will just start buying with considerable volume until the trend is quite obvious. The worst problem facing the whole energy sector is the perception...That needs to be overcome first...no matter what. The internet stocks move because the "perception" is they're going higher...When the same thing happens here...you'll know it...
