The strength of the signal depends on the technical indicators that trigger the rules for the signal. 21-day stochastic crossover is one of the rules that tends to trigger a stronger signal...above 95. Since you need weakening momentum to confirm a downtrend is starting, there is always some delay after the intraday top. Just as the extreme overbought/oversold conditions of indicators tend to be early in detecting reversals...often there are climax runs when indicators are overbought. Another way to express the 200-day moving average variance or High Jump Indicator is to simply use the 95% moving average envelopes centered about the 28-day ESA and the 28-week ESA. The Nasdaq was touching the upper band in both and started to back off. The Dow and S&P are only touching the upper band in the daily moving average envelope.
