Lee, as always yours is the sweet voice of reason! To those who may not be aware of it, Greenspan is considered to be a moderating voice in the Fed. There are many who want to see interest rates higher right now.

I don't agree that interest rates should stay where they are. I think that it wouldn't hurt to take rates down a notch. Having said that, we really ought to give credit to both Greenspan and Rubin for a masterful job. And also to Clinton for staying the course (he did resubmit Greenspan's name).

Another point -- most of us would like to see a tax break, but Greenspan argued against that pointing out that paying down the deficit would have a much more beneficial effect (can you say long term interest rates?).

Hat's off to the man.
