IBM adding PowerPC management experience to its PC operation

Jim , don't follow the industry suppliers generally , but would like to find info on who is tooling up for the PowerPC motherboards .

IBM looks like it is serious here and brought back a experienced manager Mike Braun who knows the PowerPC and related OSs:

" Braun, who previously served at IBM for 20 years, is rejoining the computer giant after leaving his current job as president and chief executive of Neuron Data, a Mountain View, Calif.-based developer of software programming applications.

In the mid 1990's, Braun served as chief executive of Kaleida Labs, an ill-fated joint venture between Apple and IBM that was charged with developing a common set of programming tools to work on computers built by both companies.

Previously, Braun held executive assigments at IBM in enterprise computing, mini-computer marketing, the launch of the IBM PC into corporate America, and other roles.

IBM was interested in NeXT years ago and invested $100 mln , later encouraged R. Perot to add $50 mln . Interest waned after J Cannavino left and IBM stayed with OS/2 .

NeXT became AAPL's Rhapsody , will be out soon as "OS X Server" , and it seems like Mr Braun has been there before with Kaleida .

Just interesting .
