Web Security, Part 2 of 3

Web browser security

Stealing your email address

The original JavaScript in Netscape 2.0 allowed sites to snag your
email address. This was quickly fixed in version 2.01.

There is a bug in JavaScript in Netscape versions 4.0 through 4.04
that allows sites to see your email address, and even your email
password, if you have told Netscape to remember your password when
checking email.
