Regardless of what happens in the near term, I will stay with MO.

A nice "war story" from recent years : In April 1994, a magazine cover story (was it "Time" magazine?) featured a smoker with 14 guns pointed at his head, with a title that went something like, "Is It All Over For Tobacco?".

Within a year, MO had gone up 65%, and by 1997, had TRIPLED!!

I am almost wishing for some cover story like that right now. My vote for who should do it goes to "Business Week" (because they tend to "succeed" against all odds -- they are the ones who manage to screw it up most among a crowd that almost always gets it wrong).

Dipy.

Rare, it seems like one didn't need to be a genius to see that MO was cheap at around $38 recently. I think the biggest change from some months ago is that Federal Judges are issuing sensible verdicts. I'm not saying "tobacco friendly" but rather "rational". It may change again, but if not, the recent trend is encouraging for the tobacco industry.

In the meantime MO overseas tobacco business is on fire. If only their international food ops. could get a bit of that glory. But I'm happy just the way it is.

It is probably no news to you folks that some smar value investors like Robert Sanborn, Kurt Feuermann and Brian Rogers are holding MO, RNJ and the bunch... They are in good company <g>.

Enjoying it,
Thomas
