AMTD paid twice as much for that deal as the other three brokers who signed up on AOL a few weeks ago. TD which owns Waterhouse, etc. and other the other two discount brokerages only paid 12 Million for a 2 year deal. I think the three were Waterhouse, DLJ, and E-Trade.

Why anyone would buy AMTD at these prices is beyond me, it's kind of like why people buy Amazon.Com instead of Barnes & Noble. If you have no overhead and don't make any money people will pay anything to buy your stock.
