Now the parable of the Parody of Shalom's curses. David, I must praise you for rising to Shalom's defense. Your Christian instincts were correct. Those horrible charges against Shalom were evil, false, absurd and very unchristian. It is to your credit that you were the first to rise in Christian charity to defend one who calls himself a Christian against these evil attacks. Since you have avoided our heated debates in the past, I was supprised and somewhat disappinted at your quick defense of your Christian brother Shalom. I set the parody up in such a way that the defense of Shalom would reveal the hypocrisy of the defenders. All the accusations and curses in the parody were direct quotes from Shalom's attack against Emile. The parable of the parody brings out the extreme tolerance and abuse that is tolerated when directed against me, but immediately denounced when directed against the real abusers and haters. I could of used the same parable just as effectively against the slandering Markoffs as against Shalom So in reality, it was not Shalom you were defending, but Emile All these words were in fact directed against Emile, and had never been directed against Shalom. The real question for those who were sincerely appalled by the parody is: were you equally appalled when you realized it was Shalom delivering those horrible missles of hate rather than Emile? If not, why not. Is it because you think Shalom is so senisitive and feels the pain from these false attacks but Emile feels no pain. I guest those who reviled and falsely accused Jesus and his disciples also believed that they felt no pain. For your information, Emile feels the pain of the Markoffs and Shalom's slander intensely, but not as intensely as he would feel the pain of denying and not preaching what the Lord has given him. David's respone sadly captured the mood I expected, so let us use his words and substitute Shalom for Emile since Shalom was the real author of this hate.David fisk on Jul 22 1998 6:12PM ESTShalom, may I say this, I believe you to be a brother in the Lord, but only God really knows who is in the family. Never-the-less I shall treat you as a dear brother in the Lord. With that, I must disagree with your vicious attacks on people. True, God has directed that we live by the Scriptures and defend its teachings. I do however believe we can do that without such harsh rebukes to our brothers. Maybe this is the problem, you don't believe them to be brothers. But if they are, and only God knows, it behoves us to speak in love and not in such terms as to give infidels an opportunity to condemn Christ. Jesus has provided a wide enough path that we can all walk together, arm in arm, fellowshipping in the Holy Spirit and yet have disagreement. I cannot find in my Bible a place that gives the impression that any individual has all the knowledge of God. In fact, it is my belief that we know very little, and what we think we know, we don't handle it very well.Shalom, I love you, and it hurts to see you respond in this manner. Is not judging our brother forbidden by Christ? Surely you know that Jesus is aware of all things and He will judge His people. Anyway, a 100 years from now we will not know the difference. As you know, for the sake of Christ, it is sometimes valuable to let things slide and Jesus will handle it. He can turn it to His glory. Love in the Lord Jesus, David Thank you David. This should have been your and others response to Shalom when he first used these horrible and false words against a child of God in Christ Jesus. Somehow, this parable seems to reveal a double standard from some christians on this thread that is not quite kosher.
