Are all bears this testy? Yes, I did listen in on the conference call, and Bezos brought up some major concerns but I don't see management standing idly by as losses widen and new opportunities open up.

>> (why is it that bulls assume that traditional retailers are precluded from selling on line?) <<

I made no such assumption. You did. Nothing stops traditional retailers from establishing internet shopping malls. I spoke of aggregators and distributors potentially using AMZN to shift inventory to retail. This is theoretical opinion.

>> What is it about the advantages you site for amzn (float, inventory etc etc) that is not replicable by valueamerica, a yahoo shop bot, or numerous other sites? More importantly, what is it about ANY etailer on line that is necessary, cut out the middlemen (all of them or most of them) and do the majority of your online business with suppliers and isps. <<

I feel like I'm repeating myself but AMZN is a brand name. Sort of like Walmart or Barney's. The advantages with partnering with a brand name such as Amazon is that you have a large audience built-in. Aggregators use retailers because they do not want to engage in retail transactions themselves. They do not have the support staff or customer service people to handle retail. Amazon can act as the sales agent and provide the customer care and service. Why do distributors sell to COMPUSA and Nordstroms? Because they have built-in channels for retail customers.

I suppose I should add a disclaimer to this post:

This post is pure opinion and speculation. Insert the acronyms BWDIK, FWIW, IMHO, etc between each sentence seen above.

Hopefully this will retard the flames.
