no large CAP deployment. CAP is all but extinct. no large industry deployment period, till late next year at earliest GTE made noise about this year but they likely aren't serious and I understand they don't have the installation manpower anyway. and westell is probably out of the run for BA. this game is for big players now. and westell has little to offer a buyout. no hard worthwhile dollar contracts. no serious relationship with LU who will push their own solutions, in spite of overtures here otherwise. most know that from the tape. all imho of course.

some "dilbert" humor from the closing paragraph of a nationally-circulated internal memo: "Lucent Technologies is endeavorily determined to promote constant attention on current procedures of transacting business focusing emphasis on innovative ways to better, if not supercede, the expectations of quality!"

Wonder how Ala feels about this :}

LU coming after COMS in retail modem market

Message 5285772

<But what about Hayes? A long-standing competitor in the retail modem space, what does Hayes stand to gain from Lucent's Edge campaign? Hayes has been struggling to keep up with modem competitors in the retail space, and has yet to make a dent in the PC OEM market. Hayes may see the Lucent Edge logo as a way to join forces. You know, safety in numbers. Hayes may also be interested in strengthening its relationship with Lucent in an effort to make inroads in the PC OEM business, where Lucent is very strong.>
