Agree, Deer Hunter...someone at Reuters was pretty damn lazy. Sure, they could've said CA exceeded expectations for the latest quarter, but warned of future lower expectations, but heck that's maybe twice as many keystrokes :-)

Anyway CA as a buy & hold at this level seems like a gift...

CA earnings were actually pretty good. But they put the "kibosh"
on future earnings with their statements, and it's fairly obvious
they did it on purpose. Did they know these "warning" statements
would cause the stock to drop more than 30%? Probably. Will the
actual effect of Asia and Y2K cause future earnings to drop more
than 5%? Probably not. So is CA a buy at these levels? Well, it
would be if CA had a little more regard for its shareholders. But
this stock remains incredibly volatile despite a terrific earnings
record over a long period of time. It is earnings that drive stock
prices in the long run, and I would expect CA's future earnings to
continue to grow. Whatever dip Asia causes is unlikely to be
substantial. The Y2K related dip may be real, but CA is in the
game to help their clients remediate their code, so that revenue
could offset a good deal of the supposed "loss" from millenia issues.

What do you think? Will CA bounce back? I believe so, but I am
tired of these games.
