Great Day! I hope the pooch didn't miss it. Thanks for all the insightful analysis provided by all. Congratulations to all of us who had the courage to hang on and the perspicacity to buy calls. I'll invest Maurice's commission in his antigravity device.
Here's a little note today from LU:
Lucent will also continue to search for acquisition targets. The Murray Hill, N.J.-based company
has made several acquisition over the past year, including buying four data networking companies.
Earlier this week, Lucent made a $70 million bid to buy Australian telecom equipment maker JNA
Telecommunications.

''You should expect to see us active in acquisitions on a fairly broad front...we're open to
whatever our business units think will advance their strategy the fastest and the furthest,'' Peterson
said.

I think Maurice has scared away everyone from being the next "post." (This will definitely NOT be as profound as his thoughts).

Someone asked (and, I assume a lot of us secretly thought) "any predictions for tomorrow's share price action?"

I want to bring up yet another concept that I only know about from being involved in futures trading -- GAPS. (If you've never heard of this stuff, you'll probably think "are you kidding?" (which was exactly what I thought when I first heard about it (in 1978)), but, it does merit some consideration).

Qualcomm reached a recent rally high (during regular trading hours only) of $58 and change, and then the low today was 59 7/8. So, there is a gap of $1 or more. So what? you might say ... Well, these creepy, weird chart things sometimes do turn out to have some predictive value.

There are "runaway" gaps, "exhaustion" gaps, and "breakaway" gaps (in addition to the inconsequential "common" gap). (I am looking at my copy of The Chicago Board of Trade's Commodity Trading Manual , from 1985).

I have to do something now. I'll try to type in the definitions soon.

Jon.
